Spring is in full swing – a time for renewal!

Living in this manic world of doing jobs, being a parent, stress, dynamic sports activities etc we can feel burnt out and we need to invest time in ourselves to rebalance, reenergise and rejuvenate! We have scheduled another event in Harrogate to offer you the space to practice and experience pranayama, meditation, a yin sequence and finishing with a fabulous reiki drumming shower by Rei-ki with James so you can leave feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated ready for the weekend! Yoga Zen truly is a beautiful space where we will practice in candle light in a peaceful and tranquil environment.

Yin yoga is a slow and soft style of yoga which allows you to stretch and nourish the deeper connective tissues such as ligaments, bones and joints which are harder to target in more dynamic (yang) styles of yoga. Whilst all types of yoga is beneficial and I love dynamic practices, Yin can be a very calming and healing practice which gives you the opportunity to press the pause button, go deeper and rejuvenate the body and mind. Through holding specific poses for longer periods of time you can also stimulate the flow of chi (vital energy force) through the meridian lines (a Chinese medicine concept) which can release any energetic blockages that may be manifesting (or has the potential to manifest) in physical, mental or emotional being.

Benefits of Yin Yoga :

  • Calms the nervous system by triggering the parasympathetic side of the nervous system
  • Balances the mind and body, encourages healing and can prevent situations or injury
  • Stretches the deeper connective tissues such as ligaments, bones and joints
  • Improve joint mobility and increase lubrication between joints
  • Increase circulation and Improve flexibility especially hips, pelvis and lower spine
  • Nourish meridians and the organs in which they travel unblocking the flow of vital energy throughout our body

A Reiki Drumming shower can be very powerful particularly after working with the Chinese meridian channels in a Yin practice.

Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life force. By channeling energy from the universe (generally through the hands), It can be a deep relaxation technique that reduces stress and promotes healing. Reiki re-activates the body’s natural energy system, bringing you back into balance on every level, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Drumming for healing and meditation is an ancient practice and goes back thousands of years, the power of sound over the body and spirit is well known in tribal cultures. Scientific research confirms that drumming (even for short periods) can influence brain activity, bringing you into the meditative alpha state and can reduce stress. Study also shows that drumming can increase the production of the body’s natural painkillers and can therefore help control pain and enhance healing.
